August's Apron Give-Away

This month I was inspired by my beautiful hydrangeas in the garden.  They're one of my favorite flowers and the colours are just magnificent this year.

They were also our Kelly's favorite and she carried blue hydrangeas for her wedding and her attendants carried white ones.
Me and my daughters, Erin and Kelly~May 2006
The rules are the same--just comment on any of the posts this month and you're entered!  It's that simple, that easy.

Today, is National Sister Day and I'm missing my sister, whose birthday is tomorrow, but I'd like to also say Happy Sister Day to all the women of the Traveling Apron, which was started by Meggie, went to Elaine, to Scarlet, to Jane, to Deb, and is now with Zaza!  My mother would be smiling!

Hydrangeas are one of my faves too... I have 4 in my front yard and one more potted plant on the deck. The apron is gorgeous!

  3. I love those flowers and have planned them for our garden...they remind me of the UK. A beautiful photograph of three lovely ladies, one of whom I am honoured to call sister.

    1. It's bold, but I was going for that look to trumpet the last days of summer and celebrate a flower that I associate with Kelly.
I'm glad Kristie got to be home with you for awhile...are you going there when the baby is born?? XOXO

    1. The blue hydrangea bush is right outside my studio window and is so heavy with blooms, the branches bend over. A wonderful memory that I hold dear in my heart of gardening with Kelly. I'm so happy to call you my sister, XOXO

  11. Happy Sister Day! When I was a little girl I used to get a bit grumpy about only having brothers...and now I have lots of lovely sisters, and it is every bit as wonderful as I knew it would be! The photograph of you and your girls is beautiful, the family resemblance so strong between you. Thinking of you, Susan.xx

  12. How funny you say that about the resemblance--an ENT physician I knew at the hospital I worked at once said, "You and your daughters all have the same lips!!" Erin reminds me so much of my mother in her face, but it was Kelly who was petite like her. My mom was barely 5 feet tall and my dad almost 6 feet! We say, she was still the boss:-D
I'm glad I have you as a sister too and look forward to trip abroad to one day meet you and Scarlet--I'm anxious to see the countryside you blog about:-)

    1. Except for this past weekend, our temperatures stay in the 70s for most of the summer and the hydrangeas love it. They are just a spectacular flower worth celebrating! BTW--Happy Sister's Day to you too! I do believe we're kindred spirits that were separated at birth:-D XOXO

  15. What a beautiful photo of you with your daughters! My older daughter also had a May wedding.
The hydrangeas are spectacular. And I didn't even realize the apron was an apron at first--I thought it was a flower arrangement of sorts.

  16. I know, the apron is a "burst" of color and I probably didn't do it justice by photographing it on my granite countertop:-(
Both our daughters were married in May! XOXO

  17. What a beautiful photo, my friend. I almost couldn't tell which one was "mom" and which were the daughters. How beautiful and young you are! :-)

Hydrangeas always remind me of a scene from my favorite movie, "It's a Wonderful Life."

Have a wonderful day full of Love and Ladybug Hugs!

  18. You are a dear friend! And, I know why we're soul mates--My favorite movie is also "It's a Wonderful Life!" My cat Bailey was named for George Bailey and I have a sign above my kitchen door, that Kelly gave me, which says, "It's a Wonderful Life."
Even at the worse times in my life, I always think about George saying, "I wish I had never been born..." and what happens because he wasn't. I have to believe there is a reason for everything, even if it's bad; it's how we handle it that determines our strength. Ladybug hugs to you too, XOXO

    2. I have to say,so do I--such a strong memory of my mother (and grandmothers) cooking in the kitchen. In fact, I have a photo of one of my grandmothers in her "house dress and apron"--an outfit she wore everyday!
I have already started to think about my Christmas cards because I know I'm going to be too busy with another book in the works to wait until November. XOXO
